Surface Preparation

  • Surfaces to be painted should be free from nibs, cavities, and other imperfections.
  • Mould, oil stains, if any, must be removed.
  • The moisture content of the concrete should be below 14% prior to the application of any coating.
  • Concrete and render should be treated with Coo-Var Acid Etch prior to painting to remove any dirt and laitance and to create a good "key" for the paint.
  • Apply a 10% thinned coat of Teamac Chlorvar to prime and seal the surface prior to applying any coats.
  • Surfaces previously painted with Teamac Chlorvar and that are in good condition can be scrubbed clean and the surface roughened to help adhesion of the new coating.
  • Old perished Chlorvar coatings should be removed mechanically and treated as new substrate and prepared accordingly.
